Who doesn’t use Instagram these days?
At first, Instagram was a way to beautify your pictures and share with friends and loved ones. The app has come a long way from its basic premise. It now has videos, direct messaging and gifs (boomerang).
On the 7th of December, Instagram was testing yet another change with the launch of it’s standalone messaging app called Instagram Direct app. The app is available in Uruguay, Chile, Turkey, Israel, Italy and Portugal for now. Instagram had this to say about their app:
We want Instagram to be a place for all of your moments, and private sharing with close friends is a big part of that. To make it easier and more fun for people to connect in this way, we are beginning to test Direct – a camera-first app that connects seamlessly back to Instagram.
The app will give you access to stuff that’s already available on Instagram: creating and sharing stories, exclusive filters, boomerang etc. All your IG friends are directly added to the Instagram Direct App.
But why is Instagram building a separate app for things that are already available on IG?
