Have you been wondering what TV series to watch lately?
Once again, I got you. 2017 will go down as one of the best years of TV series on record. We’re not yet at the end of the year, but we are already spoilt for choice with new shows and returning series that continue to astound. I’ve done like five different lists this year alone and I’ll still do more because great shows just keep coming out. As for now, I’ll strongly recommend the ones below. I’ve watched them all and they’re amazing. Plus if you have more cool suggestions, don’t hesitate to let other people know via the comment section of this post.
Dynasty’s plot revolves around a rich family and its lies and secrets. A billionaire’s daughter (who is sleeping with her driver) is unhappy to find out that her billionaire father is engaged to her rival employee at the family company and he’s planning to leave the company to his fiance instead of her. She thus tries to break the two apart by digging dirt as much as she can.
2. American Vandal.
This series is easy to brush off but it’s really entertaining, hilarious and intriguing if you sit down and focus. The twists and turns will leave you clapping. Episode one is a little weak so just persevere through it but once you get to episode 2, you will find yourself unable to get out of your seat until all the eight episodes are over. The series is about an unruly high school student who is accused of drawing huge penises on his teachers’ cars and the efforts by his friends to clear his name is what makes it exciting.
3. White Famous.
We rarely get to see TV shows with black people as the main characters. Luckily, here’s one. Comedian Jay Pharaoh stars as an actor and comedian who is trying to make it big in Hollywood and become even more famous. Jamie Foxx also makes appearances as himself.
4. Strike Back: Retribution.
After a long hiatus, there’s a whole new Strike Back Season 6 with new characters. It’s as good as the previous one, if not better. The choreography of the action scenes is top notch and the characters are very lovable.
The setting of this series is lush and serene. The plot is well-crafted. Plot? After newlywed Georgina’s billionaire husband Constantine is killed in a yacht explosion, she is shocked to discover the fortune and lifestyle he maintained was surrounded by violence, lies, secrets, and murder. She soon must step out of her comfort zone to protect the family and herself.
Another military-themed series. The drama unfolds in the present as well as in flashbacks to a failed mission involving one of the first female pilots in the unit, ultimately uncovering layers of personal and government/military secrets and leading to a season-long plan to rescue a group of MIA soldiers.
It stars the incredible Tom Hardy who you know very well from films such as Mad Max and Dark Knight Rises. In it, adventurer James Keziah Delaney returns to London during the War of 1812 to rebuild his late father’s shipping empire. However, both the government and his biggest competitor want his inheritance at any cost – even murder.
8. I Love Dick.
Before you freak out, Dick is a person. Not the other ‘Dick’ that you were thinking about. It’s hard to explain this TV series. You just have to watch it to feel its superbness. But if you hate TV shows with lots of dialogue, I’d advice you to skip it. It’s for people who are good at concentrating.
Kit Harington, who stars as Jon Snow in Game Of Thrones is in this series. What’s the plot? In the early 17th century, Catholics were being arrested and killed in Britain. This is because Britain was a Protestant country by law. Finally, British activist Guy Fawkes had enough. He and a group of provincial English Catholics planned to blow up the House of Lords and kill King James I. As for the rest of the story, you just have to watch.
